VW Golf Trim Levels
A reliable compact car like the Volkswagen Golf offers drivers in Fort Myers, Cape Coral and North Port a fun drive in a car that’s both stylish and sporty. This versatile vehicle comes in two distinct trim levels, so you need to learn the differences if you want to find the right one for your needs.
Port Charlotte Volkswagen is here to help you decide which one is right for you with this VW Golf trim levels review.
VW Golf Trim Levels: S
The base trim of this dependable compact is the Volkswagen Golf S. It runs on a 1.8L TSI® 4-cylinder engine that gets 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual, but a six-speed automatic with Tiptronic® and Sport mode is also available if you want to boost your efficiency and making driving a bit easier.
Its exterior features halogen headlights with clear, lightweight, polycarbonate lenses, plus both LED Daytime Running Lights and LED taillights. Whether it’s dark or foggy out, you’ll have no problem lighting your way. There’s convenience around your windshield as well with standard rain-sensing windshield wipers and power-operated heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Inside, you’ll find cloth seats, an adjustable front center armrest, a leather-wrapped gear shift knob and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Most vehicles don’t offer anything leather in their base model, but the Golf S was built for those who enjoy the finer things. Up front, you can get comfortable with the 6-way partial power-adjustable front seats, while in the back you get 60/40-split folding rear seats with a center armrest and a pass-through to the trunk.
Your infotainment system on the base trim consists of a Composition Color touchscreen sound system with 6.5-inch color display. With Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect standard, you can enjoy Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink® which make it easier than ever to connect your smartphone to your car. The dashboard screen can also help you while you’re backing up. Put it in reverse and the Rear View Camera System projects what’s behind you right on your screen.
Volkswagen Golf SE
The other available trim is the enhanced Volkswagen Golf SE. It offers more comfort and style as well as more driver assistance features to keep you and your passengers safe.
The most noticeable difference inside is the implementation of V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces. On top of looking stylish, the seats in this trim feature heated front seats, offering more comfort during the colder months.
The infotainment system gets upgraded to the Composition Media touchscreen sound system with 8-inch color display. In addition to all the features in the previous trim, the SE also includes SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, which is great if you don’t feel like listening to your same old music.
Both getting in and keeping others out of your VW Golf is easier on this trim. There’s keyless access with a push-button start to get going quickly, and Volkswagen Car-Net Security & Service for your alarm. For additional safety, a number of driver assistance features come standard on this trim including a Blind Spot Monitor, a Rear Traffic Alert, Pedestrian Monitoring and a Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking system.
Test Drive the Volkswagen Golf
While the S offers more than you might expect from a base level trim, the SE offers an incredible luxurious experience that all drivers will enjoy. Whichever trim you’re interested in, the Volkswagen Golf is the kind of car that will always give you a fun, quick drive with great performance around Fort Myers, Cape Coral and North Port.
