Engine Options & MPG
One of the biggest contributors to the Volkswagen Atlas fuel economy is its engines. This SUV has two available options:
- 2.0L Turbo: 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque
- 3.6L V6: 276 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque
The 2.0L turbo engine is standard starting on the base S trim, and the 3.6L engine is available starting on the SE with Technology trim. Beginning with the SEL R-Line trim, the 3.6L engine comes standard.
Both engines are combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission to optimize performance and fuel use. Additionally, Tiptronic® and Sport mode are equipped to allow you to switch to manual drive and energize your ride.
Overall, with the 2.0L engine, you’ll achieve an EPA-estimated 21 city/24 highway MPG.1 For the 3.6L engine, your fuel economy changes to an EPA-estimated 17 city/23 highway MPG.2
